This article explains two ways to restart your device if you're experiencing issues: a standard restart and a forced restart. Please try the standard restart first.
Standard restart (All models)
- Plug in the charging cable and make sure the light turns on.
-
Quickly plug and unplug the cable
five times in a row within 20 seconds.
- Left: The "BoT" logo will appear on the screen. If it doesn't, please repeat step 2.
- Center: A white light will begin to spin.
- Right: There is no visual indicator for this step. Please proceed to the next step.
Note: 📷 above shows an example of step 2 using the BoT Talk display model 🇯🇵. - Charge the device until the charging light turns green.
- Take it outside for a few minutes to find a new signal.
Forced restart (BoT Talk model only)
This procedure applies only to the BoT Talk model. If the standard restart does not resolve the issue, please try this method.
- Connect the charging cable to a power source.
- Confirm that the indicator light turns on.
- While holding down the main button on the device, plug and unplug the charging cable 5 times.
- Charge the device until the charging light turns green.
- Take the device outside to confirm it is operating correctly.
Reset switch (US version only)
Use this only as a last resort, if neither the standard restart nor the forced restart resolves the issue. This procedure applies only to the US version of BoT Talk. (Some devices don't have a reset switch, so if you can't find it, please stop here and contact us.)
- Remove the fabric cover (lift it near the charging port).
- Find the reset switch: a small square recess on the top edge of the device, opposite the charging port. Inside it is a small hole.
- Press and hold the main button on the device.
- While holding the button, use a pin to click the reset switch (the small hole) once.
- Keep holding the main button for 10 seconds.
- Release the button. A green flash means the reset is complete.
- Charge the device, then take it outside for a few minutes to find a new signal.
